Are all chiropractic adjustments the same?
Adjusting the spine doesn't have to involve twisting the neck.

When most people think about an adjustment, the first thing that comes to mind are usually pops or cracks. But not all adjustments produce this audible sound. In some cases, a specialized table or instrument is used to help the doctor perform the adjustment.
Chiropractic adjustments are given to every patient, no two people get the exact same adjustment. Each treatment is customized specifically for you; We might use more or less pressure or make an adjustment in a slightly different position.
However, because the discs are flexible, your joints might try to return to the misalignment, especially if they were in that position for a long time. If you lived with the pain of a car accident for years, your muscles might be used to holding the joints in that particular position and they may try to pull it back.
Our clinic also uses x-rays, to analyze and make measurements to determine exactly what vertebrae of the spine needs to be adjusted. This analysis allows us to be more precise, and thus more effective, when adjusting patients. It also allows us to come back to take follow up x-rays and show change that we have made through a recommended treatment plan.
This is why your chiropractor wants you to keep coming back, by the way. Over time, your body will become reacquainted with its proper position/alignment and will be able to hold your joints in the correct position much more easily.
