Of course they can! Most bodies have the amazing ability to heal itself. In the normal daily activities of walking, stretching and bending, a small spinal misalignment can reposition itself into its healthy, normal position in the spine. All is good again.
Except when it may not always be that simple. Not all spinal misalignments correct themselves. Sometimes, you won't know if you have them. These misalignments don't even cause symptoms. A continuing spinal misalignment can cause pressure on nerves over time, causing permanent damage. If the
nerves that serve your stomach, for example, are pinched at the spinal level, you may experience stomach pain but never realize it originated as a pinched nerve in the spine.
Small misalignments can be caused by all sorts of things we encounter every day, like stress, pollution, slips and falls, heavy lifting or even more serious events like accidents at work or in an automobile. The key to preventing permanent damage is getting these misalignments corrected quickly, before the damage starts to occur. Regular chiropractic care helps with this. Adjusting the spine helps to realign misplaced vertebrae, restoring joint and nerve function. Whether the subluxation is just beginning or is causing significant pain, a chiropractic treatment is the first step for correcting the problem.
