Man Salad- An easy but healthy way to do lunch
People often make assumptions as to what I eat being a physician who promotes health and wellness. Well here is one of my favorite lunch recipes, and I call it a “Man Salad”. Now it is perfectly fine or females to eat it as well, just some guys have an issue eating anything called a salad. Plus it has steak in it, which usually peaks males interest. Here it goes.
Ingredients:
4-6 oz steak cooked (ANY steak works, I usually use sirloin as it is cheap and tastes good)
2 cups greens (Spinach and Romaine combos are great)
1/2 sliced avocado
4-6 cherry tomatoes
1 Tbsp Olive oil
2 teaspoons vinegar
Put all ingredients in a large bowl and shake to mix. Thats it! You can also increase the nutritional content of this by adding additional vegetables, such as broccoli or green peppers. Now you may be thinking you can’t afford to eat steak every day, but a large steak will make 4-5 of these salads. I grill Sunday night and have lunches for the entire week. These cost less than $5/salad, cheaper than a meal at McDonalds.
I like this recipe because it is high in protein and FAT! What it is not high in is gluten or carbs. Try it and let me know what you think.
